The Lecht

Scotland's smallest ski hill can be a god send when its too windy elsewhere. It's layout, location and lift structure make it great for beginner skiers.
Picture

The Lecht's lifts
The lecht has mostly drag lifts with one chairlift and a magic carpet. Lifts are spread over two sides of a gully with a road through the middle. There are 11 drag lifts and a chairlift on the main side. The other side of the road has the Buzzard, a solitary drag lift with two red routes and a longer blue from it. As with a lot of Scottish drags they tend to fling you very forcefully before dragging you slowly up the hill.
The Lecht's Best Runs
The runs are all pretty short in length and there tends to not be a huge difference between them all, they have a gradual gradient with a steeper section at the bottom. The lower section is great for beginners with a magic carpet and nice slow lifts. The area can be sheltered from winds disturbing other resorts and it often gets early season snow (when we would usually go there). The Harrier is the areas only black run though its not too difficult, a slightly steeper gradient.

The Lecht Overall
The Lecht is small but its convenient layout right beside the road makes it easy to get in and out of, you can essentially ski from your car. We often go to the Lecht when the weather is playing havoc elsewhere and have had some great days there.
