Lake Louise, AB

Lake Louise AB
Lake Louise was really busy when we got there, much more like a French resort in terms of crowds than the other Canadian resorts we went to but that could have just been the day we were there. It was also quite expensive. We only spent one day due to our booking at Revelstoke, so don't have that clear a picture of the place. The views from the top are truly incredible though, as is the drive there.

Lake Louise's Lifts
We didn’t get over to the Larch side, they were just closing when we got there and despite having just let a 6 year old just go up the ski patrol said they were sweeping it so we couldn't go up as he would be in front of us. Total jobsworth that the lift told us was always like that.  So, unsure of that lift but generally the lifts were pretty good, fairly fast and some modern. The summit platter T-bar was really steep in places and very icy, the view from the top is spectacular.

Lake Louise's Best Runs
We only had a day so can't give a fair review. The front side was ok, lots of blues lower down and a few nice single blacks higher up. We spent most time over the back bowls which were good fun.
The gullies accessed from the Summit platter (from the top of the T-bar) were excellent, Gully D (double black) and Gully F (double black) were particularly good.
Along the ridge from the Top of the world express was good too, Swede’s (double black) was great as were the Pika Trees (single black) on the way down.

Lake Louise's Snow
It hadn’t snowed in three days before the day we spent there. The snow in the back gullies was the best but it was most likely the least skied too. Hard to tell what it is usually like.

Lake Louise's Food
We didn't actually eat there, so not too sure!

Lake Louise's Accommodation
We didn’t stay at Lake Louise, we drove in for the day so can't really comment. Would advise getting there early as the car park was mobbed, we ended up walking a long way from our car

Lake Louise Review
A good day out. Would like to go back in good snow for a fairer view. The gully skiing was great but the skiing was not as memorable as the scenery.  The scenery is unreal! Would need a local to guide you to the good bits. The lifts are good and it is well laid out.
Lake Louise itself is pretty epic and well worth the visit, would love to go back in summer when the lake isn’t frozen to see it in its full glory. The drive from Golden was unbelievable.
