Pow Tales

Pow Tales
There aren't many things that can ruin a days skiing as badly as a buried ski. If the snow is deep and you lose a ski it can be a nightmare trying to find it. Pow Tales have a simple solution to an old problem.

How Pow Tales work
You start by attaching a velcro patch that contains a ribbon attached to a carabiner onto each boot. You then tie a bungee chord around your skis binding. The idea is that when your ski comes off the bungee chord will pull the carabiner out of the velcro patch and leave a ribbon on the snow surface. This marks where your ski is so you can find it. This is different from older powder leashes, powder chords, powder straps and powder ties that stayed attached with the potential for dragging or decapitation. The ties pull off with no risk of injuries. Pow tales guide- How Pow Tales work

Do Pow Tales work?
Yes! We only had one fall where we lost a ski on our trip to Japan and we were glad we had them. The ski went 8ft under and would have taken a good portion of the day to find. The pow tale detached from the boot and marked the ski with it's orange ribbon. Simple and effective. You could actually pull the ski out with the ribbon.

Pow Tales Overall
Pow tales are a great system for marking buried skis. If you are going into the deep snow it's worth getting some. Given how cheap they are, its a small cost compared to a lost ski.
