Sun Peaks BC
Its bizarre driving through a desert by Kamloops to get to a ski resort. We didn’t actually see any sign of snow until we entered the resort. Sun Peaks is the second biggest resort in Canada but it does not feel big at all due its mellow topography.
The resort would be great for beginners and intermediates as the runs are generally long and meandering, we found them monotonous and samey.

Sun Peaks Lifts
Some good and some bad. They have a lot of modern lifts. The Burfield chair is the longest slow chair I've ever been on, it takes about half an hour to get to the top and feels a lot longer.
Sun Peaks Best Runs
No run stood out to be honest. It's a shame that the best runs seem to be beneath the slowest chair! The black and double black runs seemed to be rated as harder than they were, probably due to the moguls which must get larger. There are some long meandering runs that were ok but the whole place felt rather flat. Sure locals would guide to the good spots.
Sun Peaks Snow
It hadn’t snowed in a few days when we got there but it snowed on our second day. It was crusty underneath and not very good but maybe we timed it wrong.

Sun Peaks Food
We ate at Bottom’s bar which was pretty good. Its pretty busy in the day but seemed quiet when we went in for a drink at night, don’t think Sun Peaks would be a good choice if you were going there to party.
Sun Peaks (budget) accommodation
We stayed at the Hostel on the hill. It is an old A frame building that is made of wood so every time anyone goes to the toilet, walks or even thinks about moving around it sounds like the sky is falling in. Make sure you bring ear plugs! Decor consists of bizarre jigsaws of dogs wearing hats pinned to the walls. There is a big sign saying “No refunds given for paid nights” by the door which should really have been a give away. We would never stay there again. Ever.

Sun Peaks Review
We had booked for 5 nights but left after 3 and went back to Revelstoke (the only time we left somewhere early). The skiing wasn't very exciting (far too mellow and samey) after the previous places we had been at. Locals would have a better idea of the good spots. I’m sure it would be a great place to take a family but a lack of sleep probably jaded our view too. Very much a resort as opposed to a ski hill. Really not for us. We probably wouldn't go back.
