Our Canadian Ski Tour
We had dreamed of doing a ski trip to Canada for years and were keen to experience as many resorts as possible. Canada has always been on our bucket list of places to go skiing. There was very little information to help us plan a trip of this length (why we started this site). We planned to take buses between ski hills, this plan was short lived. Buy a car!
We spent three months travelling around the 9 resorts- from January to April 2016.
We started by flying to Vancouver and then on to Kelowna to our first ski hill, Big White. We went round in the following order-
Big White - Red Mountain - Whitewater - Silverstar - Kicking Horse - Lake louise - Revelstoke - Sun Peaks- Revelstoke - Heli Skiing - Whistler
There were other hills such as Fernie, Sunshine Village, Apex etc that we didn't get to see due to pre-booking accommodation. Hopefully on another trip.
We haven't added distances and prices of everything, message us if you would like these.
The trip was life changing in many ways and quite possibly the best thing we have ever done. Truly amazing.

Skiing in Canada
If you come to Canadian mountain resorts expecting to get French style ski resorts you will be disappointed. Canadian resorts are very different. Someone who is a "piste-basher" will run out of road very quickly in most resorts in Canada. As a local told me at Red “they only groom a few runs for the tourists and old guys who like tradition".
Our worry before coming to Canada was that we would get bored, due to the resorts being smaller on paper, than the ones we are used to. You have no need to worry at all as you can ski pretty much anywhere, on every hill. Everything within the ski area boundary is avalanche controlled. This means that there are endless runs and lines everywhere (so long as you are at a ski level to appreciate them). If like us, you like to venture off-piste, you won’t ever get bored.
What you will find if you visit Canada is amazing snow (unless you're very unlucky), incredibly hospitable and positive people and prices that seem incredibly cheap when compared to Europe. The Canadian Rockies are a fantastic place to ski.
